Creating Shared Value through the Clarification of Plastic Pollution Networking for a Circular Economy

To solve plastic pollution, we will clarify its reality from the perspectives of the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. And we will build new environmental education methods and new systems for material cycles. We aim to realise sustainable societies and the common values of the societies that make them a reality under an international network.

Our Projects

Microplastics Research Group

We will develop a microplastics analysis kit that everyone can easily use. We will elucidate the occurrence and dynamics of microplastics in river basins, with a focus on run-off from agricultural land. We then aim to bring the watershed together to share awareness of this problem.

Changing people's behaviour through environmental education.

Develop new environmental education programmes based on the research methods of the citizen participation survey and in collaboration with national and international educational institutions. We will then examine how people's behavioural change can be achieved through environmental education.

Building a new material circulation system.

Elucidate how changes in the social structure of rural areas affect farmland conservation. We will then build a model of material circulation through the production and sale of agricultural products that are not overly dependent on plastic materials, and through community composting.
